Desktop Support Specialist Program
Note: Our program is not an "A+ Certification" Program. Our Desktop Support Specialist program is an "Experience based training" program. Please do not compare our program with the A+ Certification course taught by most training facilites in Chicago. Our program is designed to help you qualify for real jobs and not simply to pass a paper certificaiton.
We only offer one career change training program and only 50 students are accepted to our program every year. Our Desktop Support Specialist program is designed for individuals interested in starting or enhancing their career as an IT Support Specialist. While many schools offer training which is designed to pass a certification exam, our program is designed to help students gain maximum experience working on a variety of hardware and software technologies. Our program is like no other and the training environment has a complete feel of on-the-job-training.
While many vocational schools and career colleges teach certification based courses in an office building and attempt to simulate the real world with limited hardware and software resources, our Desktop Support Specialist program teaches students real world skills, in a real world environment working along side real technicians.
Our program is based on an open enrollment system. We typically do not start or end a class at the same time with a group of students. We understand that no two students will have the same exact baseline knowledge and each student has their own learning curve. Students as individuals have their own strengths and weaknesses and some students may require more time to learn a particular subject. In a traditional classroom settings students are taught each subject matter at the same time and move on to the next subject regardless of if each student is comfortable with the subject matter or not. Students are expected to learn at the same time as others which is not always the case.
A student who is accepted to our program may start the program at any time, based on availability. Students are given an Objective Progress Form (OPF) and the student is expected to successfully understand and complete each objective. Each student is given the individual attention needed in order to confidently perform the hands on task in order to complete the objective. Once the student and instructor are confident that the student can confidently complete the objective, the student and instructor both sign off on the objective as completed. Students must complete each objective in order to successfully complete the program. The students have the freedom and the support to successfully complete each objective at their own pace before they move on to the next objective. Students will be given the one-on-one support when they need assistance to complete the objective.
The program is designed to graduate experienced IT professionals. Our students are given the title of junior IT Technicians when they enroll in our program. The students will work with real customers on real computer problems and will be introduced to the customers as junior IT Technicians. Our in house senior technicians along with the lead instructor will work with each student to help them become knowledgeable IT professionals backed by real world experience.
